Sherwood Close is located in West Ealing and is a 1970s estate of 209 homes. Originally the area was given over to market gardens and orchards. There were also allotments and some of these still remain today.
In 2008 the Council identified that the estate needed a lot of work to bring it up to the Government’s Decent Homes Standard and also identified a number of further problems:
- anti social behaviour
- derelict garages
- drug dealing and crime
- too many one bedroom properties and a lack of four bedroom ones
- poorly lit internal corridors
The Council agreed to work with residents to consider the estate’s regeneration and a resident steering group was formed. In the spring of 2010 residents worked with the Council on selecting a development partner to regenerate the estate. Affinity Sutton was selected as this partner in September 2012.
